What RedM is
RedM is the Cfx.re multiplayer platform for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. What it shares with FiveM, what it does not, and where to start.
Por enquanto, esta documentação está em inglês.
RedM is the Cfx.re platform for running your own Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer servers on PC, the same way FiveM does it for GTA V. Players start the RedM client on their own copy of RDR2 and join a server from the Cfx.re server list. You run that server with FXServer, the same server program FiveM uses, and you fill it with resources: folders of Lua (or JavaScript, or C#) with a manifest.
If you already run a FiveM server, most of what you know carries over. The part that changes is everything that touches the game itself.
What is the same as FiveM
That part is the Cfx.re platform, so it is shared between the two games:
- FXServer and its artifacts. You download the same server builds. What makes a server a RedM server is two lines in
server.cfg, see Server setup. - txAdmin. It ships with FXServer and has an official RedM recipe.
- The resource system.
fxmanifest.lua,ensure,stream/folders, dependencies and load order work the same. - Server side scripting. Events, exports, state bags, convars, ACE permissions,
PerformHttpRequestand database code behave the same, because none of it touches the game. - NUI. HTML pages drawn over the game work the same way.
What is different
- The game key. A resource has to say it runs on
rdr3, and anrdr3manifest needs one extra line or it does not start at all. That is the next page, The fxmanifest. - The natives. RDR2 has its own natives. They do not match GTA V by name or by hash, and many are called by hash.
- The game data. Ped, horse, weapon, vehicle and prop names, blips, controls and text all come from RDR2. No GTA V list applies.
RedM for a FiveM script author goes through these one by one, and Porting a FiveM resource is the checklist for moving an existing script.
