Photo Mode Converter
Turn RDR2 photo mode files (PRDR) into normal JPEG pictures in your browser, with where and when each photo was taken. Nothing is uploaded.
Por enquanto, esta documentação está em inglês.
The Photo Mode Converter turns the photos RDR2 saves from photo mode into ordinary JPEG files you can open, share or use on a loading screen. It also shows what the game stored with each photo: the size, when it was taken, the in-game date and time, and where you stood. Everything runs in your browser; the files are never uploaded.
Where the photos are
On PC, RDR2 keeps photo mode pictures in:
Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles\<id>where <id> is a folder named after your profile. Each photo is one file with a name like PRDR31155361589_1 and no extension, which is why Windows does not open it as a picture.
Quick start
- Press Pick the profile folder and choose the
Profiles\<id>folder. Every file in it whose name starts withPRDRis converted. - Or press Pick files and choose some photos, or drag them onto the box.
- Press JPEG under a photo to save that one, or Download all to get every converted photo in
rdr2-photos.zip.
Each JPEG keeps the original name with .jpg added, so PRDR31155361589_1 becomes PRDR31155361589_1.jpg.
What you get
The picture inside a PRDR file already is a JPEG. The tool cuts it out byte for byte, so there is no second compression and no quality loss: the JPEG you download is the one the game saved.
Under each photo the card lists what the game stored, when it is there:
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Size | The picture’s width and height, and the JPEG’s file size. |
| Taken | The real date and time the photo was saved. |
| In game | The in-game date and time in the photo. |
| Position | The x, y, z where the photo was taken. |
| Mode | Story for a single player photo, otherwise the value the game wrote. |
If a card says Header did not check out, found by the JPEG markers, the file’s header did not match the usual layout and the picture was found by searching for the start and end of the JPEG instead. The result is still the game’s own JPEG; it is just a sign the file is unusual.
Clear empties the list. Adding the same file twice is skipped.
Errors you may see
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Too small to be a photo mode file. | The file is a few hundred bytes or less. It is some other profile file. |
| Too large to be a photo mode file. | Over 32 MB, which no photo is. |
| No JPEG picture inside. Is this a PRDR photo file? | The file holds no picture. |
| The picture inside is cut off (no end marker). | The file is damaged or was only partly copied. |
Files ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .txt or .json are skipped when you pick or drop them, so a folder with earlier conversions next to the originals does not produce errors.
Tips
- Pick the profile folder only takes files that start with
PRDR, so the profile’s save files are ignored. Use it rather than selecting files by hand. - Use a converted photo as the background of a Loading Screen Generator resource.
Limitations
- It reads PC photo mode files. It does not convert other RDR2 files, and it does not write PRDR files back.
- Dragging a whole folder onto the box does not read the files inside it. Use Pick the profile folder for a folder.
- The metadata fields only show when the game wrote them into the file.
